Raacho Kanda Trek

Raacho Kanda Trek

Raacho Kanda is a beautiful place that offers amazing views of the Raacho group of peaks along the Indo-Tibetan border. Charang (altitude 3400 mtrs) is a delightful blend of spiritualism and adventure with its beautiful ancient monastery Rangrik Tungma and many chortens. Rangrik Tungma means “Temple Made by God” because, according to legend, God descended into the valley and transformed himself into a yak herder. Using a yak halter to measure a square on the ground, he constructed the temple in a single night. The gompa (monastery) was constructed in the eleventh century. It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Kinnaur and has some of the oldest Buddhist texts, murals, and Thangka paintings. Charang village also has other attractions such as the Tidong stream, where an ITBP helipad has been built by the stream, and the fields surrounded by harsh rocky mountains, where you can see heaps of barley flowers. Charang is also a base camp for trekking to Charang La pass, which offers stunning views of the Himalayas. If you are looking for an adventurous and spiritual trip to Kinnaur, Raacho Kanda and Charang are perfect destinations for you. You can enjoy the scenic beauty of nature, explore the rich culture and history of the region, and experience the thrill of trekking to high altitudes. Raacho Kanda and Charang are truly places that will leave you spellbound with their charm and splendor. 😊
